The long road home

We are now heading back to Madison after spending the night in beautiful St. Louis, Mo. We got to see the Arch and enjoyed our first hot meal in a while. Although, we had to pretend we were Cardinals fans, it was a good ending to our trip.

A half-hour out of St. Louis we had an unexpected automotive crisis forcing us to make a detour through Litchfield, IL looking for a special on tires.

Andy was especially excited to use the emergency reflective triangle.

Continue to watch our blog for a trip recap including, but not limited to, more photos, stories and gas mileage statics.

Isn’t the emergency triangle a bit similar to the “end of the world storm” icon on wsi?

Wow, that tire looks nasty. Sure happy you didn’t crash into a tree or something. Glad you are nearly home safely.

By the way, ever hear of the Firestone 500 tire scandal?

Hi Avi,

This is Cindy’s sister Teri here in California. Cindy told me about your trip and I thought I would write you a quick note. I think we met about 1.5 years ago when I visited Dove. Anyway I hope you have been having a great trip chasing tornadoes….be safe and don’t forget to go back to work…or Cindy will hunt you down and drag you back kicking and screaming!

This is just too much. First there’s worry about getting swept up in a horrible storm, and then you blow a tire that could have swept you both off the road.

Go home!! With all that’s been a worry so far, I’ll think good thoughts about the pilot. I hope, too, that the plane has been wheels than the car.
